Ever since Gurgaon happened on the housing and real estate scene it has had cascading fallout on virtually all the suburbs of the country.
“We never wanted to leave Delhi, we could never imagine life out of Delhi, for all and everywhere else we knew there was no facility; you name it they won’t have it like steady supply of electricity, water, good roads, security and the whole gamut of social and cultural life, which we were used to being Delhiites,” says Jaban Kesar who now is one of the oldest residents of the new township of Gurgaon that has spawned the real estate boom in the country. This development created a huge demand for commercial and residential plots in Gurgaon.
“Our moving to Gurgaon was a rather forced decision; we had had some family property disputes which were taking a heavy toll on our life and finances before I took a wise decision to call it quits and offered to enter into an agreement of compromise; as a part of that I settled for a lesser share of my ancestral property that I sold and the only option I was left with was to see options in the south of Delhi,” says Jaban.
Jaban looked around for land in Gurgaon when there was nothing but heat and dust for all practical purposes. Gurgaon plots those days were a really cheap option. At that time there were lots of plots for sale in Gurgaon. His family cribbed and cried, his children never wanted to change their schools for the unknown ones in Gurgaon with uncertain credentials and quality of education. It was, as it was felt, was a major crisis period for the family.
Jaban though did not give up. He knew he had to make a fresh start of his life which was completely uprooted and was in jeopardy about all its aspects.
Jaban made a beautiful and spacious house for his family, which to a large extent soothed the unruffled feathers though there was little he could do with the lack of social life and the quality of education his kids had to live with. But they all returned home at the end of their day to a house which provided them all the comfort and a great sense of belonging.
His cousins after settling the dispute did not opt for suburban life. They went eastward where real estate was cheapest. For Kesars the Gurgaon property proved to be a boom in money terms. Though began with hardships, the family thanks their stars for having made a decision for Gurgaon.
